Resort fees being added to Walt Disney World resorts?

Recently, guests participating in Disney surveys have received a question regarding resort fees. Twitter user, Scott Gustin, posted a picture of the survey he received that reads:

A standard room in a deluxe resort such as Disney’s BoardWalk Inn or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort with an average nightly rate of $350 includes:

  • Unparalleled Guest service
  • Close proximity to the theme parks
  • Transportation to and from the park
  • Online check-in

A resort fee of $15 per night would be assessed which includes:

  • Disney’s Magical Express
  • MagicBands
  • Priority Disney FastPass+ planning (up to 60 days prior to arrival)
  • Resort entertainment and children’s activities
  • Wi-Fi
  • Extra Magic Hours
  • Parking at the resort and theme parks

The way the survey is worded leads many to believe that what was once considered included, free amenities of staying on-property at Walt Disney World will now become an additional cost on a nightly basis. Although Disney has posed the question in this particular survey, there is no guarantee that a resort fee, which is common at many resorts, will actually be applied to stays at Walt Disney World. Also, the survey did not mention if Disney Vacation Club stays would be affected by a new resort fee.
