One of the most anticipated lands to ever come to a Disney Park officially has a name and two announced attractions! Villains Land will officially be named just that to align with the other land names in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
While we don’t have attraction names, we do know the villains who will inspire them as well as a sneak peak of what to expect.
Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil, will invite guests to her towering palace atop a looming mountain. This attraction will be a thrill ride and take guests through Maleficent’s domain and the briars surrounding it. Walt Disney Imagineering, promises the thrill attraction will combine first of its kind elements to meet Maleficent’s high expectations.
The second attraction will take guests below the land into the Evil Queen’s catacombs where you’ll come face to face with the Magic Mirror in this water attraction.
Guests can expect the scale of Villains Land to be similar to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Favorite villains like Cruella de Ville, Dr. Facillier, and of course Maleficent and The Evil Queen will all be visiting with guests who dare to enter their world.The villains will be sophisticated in a new way, charming, fun, and part of your story when visiting the land.
The highlight of the presentation was a surprise appearance by Glenn Close reprising her role as Cruella in the 1996 live-action 101 Dalmations. As you can imagine, Cruella was quite disappointed she did not have an attraction announced, tasking Imagineers to get to work. Hopefully this means Cruella will have a strong influence in Villains Land… and maybe her own attraction after all. Either way, it was a treat to see Glenn Close as Cruella once again!
