Hey EPCOT Friends. This is the kind of Disney announcement that hits right in the feels! During the closing moments of the D23 Disney Experiences showcase, Disney confirmed that Dreamfinder and Figment are returning to EPCOT, bringing one of the park’s most beloved original stories back together once again.
Figment has remained a much-loved part of EPCOT since the original Journey Into Imagination opened in 1983. The cheeky purple dragon has become one of the park’s most recognizable icons, from his appearances around the Imagination! pavilion to his starring role in the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts and, of course, those very popular Figment merchandise releases.
But for longtime EPCOT fans, the really exciting part is the return of Dreamfinder, the whimsical dream-chaser who first introduced guests to Figment. From 1983 until 1998, Dreamfinder encouraged guests to collect sounds, colors, ideas, and anything else that could spark their imagination, becoming an important part of the original attraction and a character that generations of EPCOT fans have never forgotten.
Disney says there is much more to come about Dreamfinder and Figment’s journey back to EPCOT, so we don’t yet know exactly what their new adventure will look like. But after decades of some fans hoping, wishing, and seeing these two reunited, this will be a welcome announcement from Horizons for many. I have a feeling EPCOT fans are going to have a LOT to say about this one!
