Water Outage Hits Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney World

Guests staying at Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are dealing with a major inconvenience this weekend as an extended water outage has reportedly left the Disney Vacation Club resort without normal running water for more than 24 hours.

According to reports from guests currently staying at the resort, the trouble began Saturday afternoon, August 8, with water pressure dropping significantly throughout Boulder Ridge. By Sunday, August 9, guests were still reporting little to no water pressure in their villas, along with toilets that could not be flushed.

Disney appears to be moving at least some affected guests to other Walt Disney World Resort hotels while crews work to resolve the problem. Guests have reported being relocated to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, although available accommodations may vary depending on party size and room type.

There are also reports from guests that Disney is offering refunds or adjustments for impacted stays. We have not seen an official statement from Walt Disney World confirming what compensation is being offered, so guests currently staying at Boulder Ridge should speak directly with the resort’s front desk about their individual situation.

At this point, there’s also no confirmed word on what caused the water outage or exactly when full service will be restored.

The situation comes less than two months after Disney’s Wilderness Lodge experienced a separate infrastructure problem involving air conditioning in portions of the resort. That issue primarily affected the main Wilderness Lodge building rather than Boulder Ridge.

For anyone checking into Boulder Ridge Villas today or over the next couple of days, it would be worth checking with Disney before arriving at the resort. And if you’re already there and experiencing water problems, definitely speak with a cast member rather than waiting it out in your room.

We’ll keep an eye on this one and update you as soon as Disney restores water service or additional details become available.
