Guests Report Week-Long AC Issues at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

A discussion thread on DISboards has been gaining attention this week as multiple guests report ongoing air conditioning issues at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, with some claiming the problems have lasted for more than a week during Central Florida’s recent stretch of extreme heat.

The thread, titled “Wilderness Lodge AC out – compensation,” was started by a guest celebrating an anniversary trip who wrote:

“The AC has been out the last 2 nights and they still have no ETA.”

The guest went on to ask fellow Disney fans what level of compensation would be appropriate after the outage had “significantly impacted” their vacation.

While reports vary regarding exactly when the issues began, several posters believe guests experienced intermittent cooling problems before the air conditioning system stopped working entirely. One DISboards member wrote:

“It would get hot overnight … and then the AC would be on during the day.”

The same poster added that by June 18, “it went out and never came back on.”

Reports from other sources suggest the outage has affected guest rooms, common areas, and dining locations throughout the resort’s main building. During the height of the issue, reservations for Whispering Canyon Cafe and Storybook Dining at Artist Point were temporarily unavailable.

The timing has made the situation especially challenging for guests, as Central Florida has been under multiple heat advisories with heat index values exceeding 100 degrees. Several guests reported room temperatures climbing into the 80s during the outage.

Compensation appears to vary by situation. In the DISboards thread, guests discussed receiving different offers, while one guest on Reddit reported being compensated with two nights credited back after staying through the outage.

Disney has reportedly been relocating some affected guests to other Walt Disney World Resort hotels as crews continue working on the problem. According to reports from guests over the weekend, portable cooling units have also been brought in to help lower temperatures in some areas of the resort.

As of the latest guest reports, cooling had been restored in some areas of Wilderness Lodge, though visitors indicated that conditions were still inconsistent throughout portions of the resort.

We’ll continue monitoring guest reports and will update this story if Walt Disney World provides additional information on the outage or its resolution.
