Multi-generational family vacationing in Walt Disney World can be difficult to coordinate. With different height requirements and personal interests it can be hard to find attractions that everyone will want to ride. Making sure that grandma and grandpa can ride the same rides as their grandchildren is something that makes Walt Disney World so special, so it is important you find attractions that everyone can, and will, want to do together. Here are the best 5 attractions that everyone in multi-generational families can and will want to ride:
5) “it’s a small world”
What might be the most iconic Walt Disney World attraction, “it’s a small world”, makes for a great multi-generational attraction. Located in the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland this slow moving attraction will be perfect for grandparents who like to take things slow, and the bright colors and catchy tune will leave young children captivated. While teenagers might be the only audience that will not love this attraction, it will be easy to convince them to come along for the ride because the wait time is usually very short. While the line can be longer in the peak seasons you will most likely not see “it’s a small world” have a wait longer than 25 minutes for most of the year.
4) Haunted Mansion
Located in the Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square is the Haunted Mansion. This is a great family attraction, especially if the youngest children can brave the 999 happy haunts. Like “it’s a small world”, the Haunted Mansion is a slow moving attraction, which will make it popular for grandma and grandpa. But your journey through the Haunted Mansion is still thrilling enough for the grandchildren due to the clever special effects featured in the attraction.
3) Toy Story Mania
This interactive 4D attraction is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This attraction will allow everyone in the family to play carnival type games along with their favorite Toy Story characters. Whether you are shooting virtual darts at balloons or throwing virtual baseballs at plates, everyone will love the interaction they get to feel while playing. While the attraction does move faster than “it’s a small world” or Haunted Mansion, it certainly isn’t a thrill ride, and should be slow enough for older riders to not feel overwhelmed. Teenagers and the young children will love that this is essentially a video game that they can play with the entire family. The biggest downside to this attraction is the extremely long line it has, as it can easily reach 100 minutes.
2) PeopleMover
With rarely any wait, the PeopleMover is the perfect attraction for the entire family to spend 10 minutes together. This attraction is very simple, but its simplicity makes it easy to ride over and over. Gliding above Tomorrowland at a comfortable pace makes this a fun attraction for everyone, and for the thrill seekers in the family, you get a little preview of the inside of Space Mountain. The biggest downside to this attraction is that there is no wheelchair accessibility.
1) Pirates of the Caribbean
Multi-generational family vacations need attractions that everyone will enjoy, and no Walt Disney World attraction will be enjoyed more by everyone than Pirates of the Caribbean. Singing along to “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” as you travel by swimming mermaids, pirates, and even Jack Sparrow himself makes this attraction exceptional. With an intriguing storyline, a taste of thrill, and accessibility for everyone, this is the perfect balance of everything a multi-generational family in Walt Disney World would need. Although this can have a longer wait, I still believe this attraction is a must for multi-generational families.
