The Maharajah Jungle Trek at Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite trails and animal experiences in the park. It is located in the Asia section of the park, and it’s a beautiful jungle trek that is close to Kali River Rapids. This trail is a must-do for me at Animal Kingdom, especially during the fall and winter months, because the experience is more bearable.
We recently had a mild cold front come through Central Florida, so of course, I ran over to the trek. As I strolled through the trail, I started thinking of the three reasons I love this experience so much. Now, I want to share that list with you!
It Has Unique Animals
This trek has some of the most incredible animals, from bats to tigers and beautiful birds. The tigers and the bats pull me into this trail because both animals are so interesting. Sometimes, the bats can seem boring because they don’t do much, but they are way more active on colder days. So, on the day I went, they were so playful and very visible. Which made my day; it was so cool to see them with their wings open and communicating with each other, which I had never seen before.
The tigers can be hit or miss because sometimes they are active, and sometimes they are enjoying nap time. On this day, the tigers were napping and weren’t super active, which is totally fine. Last year, I saw the tigers a few times, and they were very active, walking around and playing with their enrichment tools. I hope next time I go enjoy the trails, I will see the tigers having fun.
There’s Beautiful Photo Spots
Not only does Trek have amazing animals, but it is also full of beautiful photo spots. I am always searching for cute social media-worthy photo spots, and this trail is filled with picture-perfect areas.
It’s a Peaceful Trek
Sometimes, Animal Kingdom can get overwhelming, whether it’s because of the crowds, the heat, or just everything combined. I find myself escaping to this trek anytime I feel I need a peaceful break when I’m visiting the park. The area isn’t too loud, it’s not crowded, you can move at your own pace, and there are plenty of benches to relax on.
I firmly believe that everyone who visits Walt Disney World should have a peaceful spot at each park. I highly recommend checking out this trek on your next visit to Animal Kingdom when you feel like you need a break.
Hi, I'm Erica, and I write about all things Disney. Before working for The DIS, I was a theme park performer at SeaWorld, but I also performed at Disney. I have such an immense love for theme parks to the point I studied them in college.
