Today, Disney’s Animal Kingdom officially closed Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama; the colorful carnival part of DinoLand U.S.A. that has welcomed guests since the park’s opening day in 1998. The closure includes TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. Oh and one giant Cementosaurus.
The rest of DinoLand U.S.A. remains open through the end of 2025, including DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, The Boneyard, and character meet & greets along the Cretaceous Trail.
Dino-Rama’s permanent closure acts as phase one of paving the way for the new Tropical Americas expansion. Over the next few years, the entirety of DinoLand U.S.A. will transform into a land inspired by the cultures and ecosystems of Central and South America. One of the new attractions include Disney’s first-ever Encanto-themed ride, where guests will step into the Madrigal family’s magical casita and celebrate Antonio’s ability to communicate with animals. The land will also feature an Indiana Jones attraction, ultimately replacing DINOSAUR after 2025.
Farewell, Diggs County – you’ll live on in our memory. I’ll miss your quirky gift shop and colorful details the most!
Here’s to a new chapter for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
