Holiday Snowflakes at Animal Kingdom Made by Augusta Training Shop Bring Joy to Artisans

One of the very best times of the year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort is during the holiday season and this year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has really beefed up their festive-ness by featuring an extra dose (or two) of Pixie Dust.

Some of you may have already seen the intricate, white snowflakes that have been woven into the special garlands hanging on the shops and buildings on Discovery Island. Artisans from the Augusta Training Shop in Augusta, Georgia handmade those beautiful snowflakes. The Augusta Training Shop is a nonprofit organization that “employs adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, enabling them to discover their abilities and create rich and meaningful lives.”

The Disney Parks Blog team shared that they recently had the chance to meet the inspirational artisans who crafted the holiday snowflakes and they were treated to hearing their stories. So much care and attention were put into making each and every one of them. These folks were invited to the Walt Disney World Resort so they could see their one-of-a-kind snowflakes in-person hanging for all to see at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.

Take a look at the video below to see their reactions.
