Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
It’s that time! Several attractions at Animal Kingdom are being replaced to make way for Tropical Americas, featuring new Encanto-themed attractions.
Sunday, January 12, 2025, was the last day for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. We went to say our goodbyes to this area. I liked it because it was something different in a Disney theme park. I don’t think I ever played a game, but I enjoyed watching others enjoy themselves in this area.
DINOSAUR will remain open through 2025. The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will stay open for now, with no closing date announced.
In the new Tropical Americas area, there will be a totally different Indiana Jones experience in a preserved Mayan temple. No other Disney Park has this experience.
If you are a fan of the movie Encanto, you will enjoy the new area based on the film. This area is predicted to open in 2027. This new location will be on 11 acres within Animal Kingdom with a large Hacienda that will reportedly contain one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Walt Disney World.
I am reserving my judgment for this new area until it opens, but I don’t understand having the same character in multiple parks. We already have the Encanto experience in EPCOT, and Indiana Jones in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. What am I missing?
What are you looking forward to? What will you miss? Till next time, see you in the parks!
