With DinoLand U.S.A headed towards extinction to bring new stories like Encanto and Indiana Jones to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’re spending time soaking in all the dino details and experiences while we can.
One of these includes the Restaurantosaurus Lounge tucked away in the quick service dining location near the DINOSAUR attraction. Restaurantosaurus and its lounge *should* stay open through 2025 since Disney has announced DINOSAUR will be open during that time.
The lounge is located in the “Time Rover service bay” of Restaurantosaurus and even has live music from the “Dino Institute intern” who plays guitar and makes jokes with guests. We’re told this intern might have also worked in a galaxy far far away at the Galactic Star Cruiser. You’ll have to visit yourself to be sure!
The menu consists of four signature cocktails… which we of course all tried! You can also order a selection of non-alcoholic specialty drinks, beer, wine, and a pretty impressive liquor selection for those ordering off-menu.
Speaking of off-menu, we’ve also been told there is a secret menu at the Restaurantosaurus Lounge that is worth trying. Be sure to ask the cast member… for now those drinks will stay a secret!
Tequilasaurus – Herradura Reposado Tequila, Bols Creme de Cassis, lime juice, and sweet-and-sour for $14.
The name of this drink was too good not to order! It is a little on the sweet side but the peppery flavor from the tequila still comes through and overall is a well-balanced margarita. This Tequilarsaurus would recommend this one!
Carnotaurus Meteoritis – Jim Beam Black Extra Aged Bourbon, lemon juice, strawberry puree, sweet-and-sour, and topped with Sprite for $13.
This bourbon sour was also surprisingly good! The strawberry puree adds fresh flavor and the bourbon balances the sweetness. The addition of Sprite gives it a nice fizz and is the perfect drink on a warm day.
Ferminted Fossil – Diplomatico Planas Extra Anejo Blanco Rum, mint, lime juice, pure cane syrup, and topped with soda water for $14.
Despite its very fun name, this is your standard mojito. It has a fair amount of mint and who doesn’t love Mickey lime ears?? You can taste the rum and it has just the right amount of simple syrup making it the least sweet of the four signature cocktails.
Primordial Booze – Three Olives Blueberry Vodka, Bols Blue Curacao, lemonade, and pomegranate juice for $13.
In contrast to the Ferminted Fossil, this is the sweetest drink on the menu. In all fairness, the ingredients let you know you’re in for a candy-like drink. A simplified version would have likely been better. The addition of the blue curacao and pomegranate juice made it too sweet and too confusing. Just give us a blueberry lemonade cocktail!
Overall, the Restaurantosaurus Lounge is a nice spot to grab a wide variety of drinks! And maybe even pour one out for our DinoLand friends… Chester and Hester. Rest in power, Dino-Rama.
