Our hearts are heavy! For the first time in four years, our family will not be able to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. No need for tears, however. We have decided to bring the party home! Here are some ways you can also bring the party to your house.
Do the Disney Decorations
First, there are the decorations. Every year we have gone to Disney in the fall, we have purchased a new Halloween decoration. My sister bought me my first Mickey pumpkin for my birthday four years ago! We have also found good prices on Disney Halloween items online at the Disney Store, particularly after the season is over. Right now, I have my eye on a Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost Figure! Can’t afford new decorations? No problem. Disney characters make wonderful carvings on pumpkins! My favorite was our Mickey vampire pumpkin.
Get in the Mood with the Movies
Wicked and beloved characters from Disney movies roam throughout the park during the Halloween party. Watch the movies to bring them into your home. Choose 101 Dalmatians to put Cruella de Vil into your living room. See Jack Skellington through the The Nightmare Before Christmas. Invite the Sanderson sisters over by watching Hocus Pocus. Now for my favorite – watch Ichabod Crane for the Headless Horseman. One of the best parts of the Halloween party is seeing the Headless Horseman usher in the parade. It just wouldn’t be Halloween without watching Ichabod Crane at our house!
Try some Treats
Get creative in the kitchen and try making some special Disney treats for the season. Come up with your own creations or go to Disney’s website for ideas. On the website, you will find recipes for Franken-Goofy cupcakes, Oogie Boogie’s Holiday Treat, Mickey Mummy Cake Jars, and more. I personally can’t wait to try the Evil Queen’s Villainous Apples, which are a delicious looking version of marshmallow pops.
See the Sights and Sounds
Even if you cannot attend the party, you can still enjoy the sights and sounds of it through the DIS’s exclusive video footage and pictures. On the website, Webmaster Corey has put up hundreds and hundreds of pictures for you to peruse and enjoy. You can also watch the Halloween parade while sitting in your pajamas on the couch instead of on a cramped sidewalk. Just a warning, though, you might be singing “Boo to You” for many days after! Need more sounds from the party? Pull them up online and listen to the “Grim Grinning Ghosts” from Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride and “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
If you too can’t make the Halloween party this year, no fears! You can also bring the party home through the decorations, movies, treats, and special party coverage. Boo to You!
