Clients often ask if they should book a room-only or a package that includes theme park tickets and a dining plan. You would need to have a package with theme park tickets before you can add the dining plan.

There are benefits to booking a vacation package at Walt Disney World. For 2025, package holders can take advantage of a new list of Magical Extras, including complimentary entry to a Disney water park for each member of your traveling party on arrival day. This ticket is only valid on the day of check-in, and you can’t reschedule it. It’s a great way to start your vacation.

There are different types of theme park tickets. You can start with a base ticket that will allow you to visit one theme park per day. The prices are date-based, meaning that tickets and pricing will depend on when you are visiting the theme parks.

Park Hopper tickets allow you to visit more than one theme park on the same day. There are capacity limitations to keep in mind. When you purchase this option, it is valid for all the days on your ticket. You can’t just buy one day of park hopping if you have a multiple-day park ticket.

You can add the Water Park and Sports option, which entitles you to visit one theme park a day and a certain number of visits to the water parks, golf courses, or the ESPN sports complex.

The Park Hopper Plus option allows you to visit more than one theme park on the same day and a certain number of visits to a water park, golf course, or the ESPN sports complex.

The advantage of the package over a room-only is Walt Disney World does release discounts that require a package. There is usually a tiny savings by having the tickets included in your package or buying the tickets separately. Another advantage of the package is that if you need to cancel, the tickets are canceled, also. If you purchase the tickets separately, they are non-refundable.
