Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) at the Magic Kingdom is a great opportunity to fill up on sweet treats, including the loads of candy you receive while trick-or-treating! With the party taking place from 7:00 P.M. until midnight, chances are you’ll get hungry for substantial food at some point. While many of Magic Kingdom’s restaurants are open for the majority of the night, there’s also a LOT of dining options exclusive to the party.
On the first night of MNSSHP, I was happy to find a solid vegetarian option that was not only flavorful and filling but also from a restaurant where I could cool off in the air conditioning – Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Frontierland! Pecos Bill is a great spot to take a break from the party – there’s plenty of seating, air conditioning, its own bathrooms, and is a little quieter than a Quick-Service option like Cosmic Ray’s. Add the option to get a great meal and you have a winning combo! Pecos Bill is along the Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade route if you’re trying to time eating with watching the parade.
Frightful Black Bean Burger – topped with jalapeรฑo-ranch slaw and jalapeรฑo chips, served with French fries – $12.99
It may not have much curb appeal but this is one of the best “veggie” burgers I’ve ever had at Disney World! It’s nice to see a black bean patty instead of the usual “Impossible” veggie burgers. The black bean adds a good texture and is substantial enough to soak up the slaw and jalapeรฑo ranch. The jalapeรฑo flavor gave it a nice heat on the back-end but doesn’t overpower the other flavors. The purple bun is what really made it Halloween and is light and fluffy, tasting fresher than a typical Quick-Service bun. Even if you’re not a vegetarian, this is a great option to fill up on something tasty and not terribly heavy.

Guava Lemonade Slushy – with cheesecake foam and Halloween sprinkles – $6.79
While I wouldn’t go out of my way for the guava lemonade slushy, it’s surprisingly light and refreshing! You can definitely taste the guava and is perfect on one of the warm August or September parties. The cheesecake foam is completely unnecessary but not bad. My four-year-old even enjoyed this one!
