Today the 4R Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck opened at Disney Springs. To my surprise, there was no line, which for its grand opening seemed odd. The ordering process was quick and easy and our food came out incredibly quick. The cast members working at the food truck were also incredibly friendly, so the experience was off to a great start.
My wife joined me as she wanted to try some of the exciting new offerings as well. She is on the Keto Diet, so she was slightly concerned if there would be anything on the menu that she could eat. Fortunately, there was! She ordered the Burrito Bowl, which was $10.99 plus tax. The Burrito Bowl comes with your choice of meat on either a bed of lettuce or rice. Her meat choice was the grilled tri-tip steak and she ordered it on lettuce. Her bowl also included salsa verde, pico de gallo, sour cream, queso fresco, cilantro, and japaeño. She could have also added black beans and tortilla strips. Overall, she said the meat was tender and flavorful, but it was slightly cold, which wasn’t ideal. She said the guacamole seemed fresh and was one of the best parts of the bowl. The portion size of her burrito bowl was small and was the same price as my Taco Cone, which was about twice the size.
Like I mentioned, I had the Taco Cone. This thing was huge! I had mine filled with brisket barbacoa. According to my wife, the brisket tasted like stinky feet. I completely disagreed with her assessment. I thought it was delicious. I thought the meat complimented the rest of the cones fillings, which included lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, queso, cilantro, and jalapeño, and lime. The only small complaint I have is that once you have the cone in your hand you really can’t put it down because of its shape.
I should note that because this a food truck you cannot order tap water. So, we opted for Dasani bottled water. They also offer bottled soda and a small selection of beer.
There was virtually no seating. There were cocktail tables in the sun, which no one was standing at. Food trucks typically do not have a lot of seating options, but because this seems to be a somewhat permanent addition to Disney Springs it would just make sense for them to add a handful of tables with umbrellas. The location also seemed a bit odd to us, it is located in between World of Disney and the Ghirardelli Store. We thought it would be down by Bongos Cuban Cafe, like the rest of the food trucks.
Overall the addition of the 4R Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck seems like a good one. I won’t be surprised if this location becomes slightly more crowded once the word gets out. This review was also done mid-day, which is when Disney Springs isn’t very crowded. If they maintain the quality of the food, the service, and add some seating I think this will become a popular quick service choice at Disney Springs.
I’ll be back because Disney Springs only has a handful of good quick service options. It was slightly expensive, our total was just slightly over $30 for just the two of us. I think the pricing for my massive Taco Cone was fair, but my wife’s small burrito bowl seemed priced a little too high for what it was.
