New Map Reveals Size of Monsters, Inc. Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The size and layout of the Monsters, Inc. door coaster ride building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios were revealed in a map released by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

Based on the map above, the show building is the larger pink shape within the [previous Cast Member] parking lot off Cypress Dr. The building will be approximately 365 feet by 330 feet wide and 103,000 square feet, putting Monsters as the second largest show building at Walt Disney World. It surpasses the nearby Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance building (92,000 square feet) but is still significantly smaller than the massive Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which covers 196,000 square feet

Guests will enter the ride through a Monsters, Inc. headquarters façade located at the rear of the former Muppets Courtyard, which permanently closed on June 7th. While all roller coaster-related facilities will be newly constructed, several existing structures from the Muppets Courtyard and Grand Avenue areas will be repurposed as part of the new Monsters, Inc. land.

The highly anticipated “door coaster” will mark a major milestone for Disney, debuting as the company’s first-ever vertical lift coaster and its first suspended coaster. Disney has not yet announced additional attractions for Monstropolis or provided an official opening timeline.
