If you’re visiting Walt Disney World this weekend, make sure to ride these three attractions before Disney temporarily closes them for extended refurbishments on Monday, January 6th. That means this Sunday, January 5th, is the last day to experience them for a little while!
Big Thunder Mountain
January 5th is your last day to enjoy the wildest ride in the wilderness! Beginning January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom will close for at least a year, reopening sometime in 2026 with some “extra magic”. This is the attraction’s most extended refurbishment to date. Specific details haven’t been revealed yet. We can’t help but wonder if we’re finally getting those explosion effects Disneyland’s has?!
Gran Fiesta Tour
Over in the World Showcase at EPCOT, the Mexico Pavilion’s Gran Fiesta Tour will be closed for a two-month refurbishment beginning Monday, January 6th. For now, the boat ride is scheduled to reopen on March 15th. Go say a short & sweet goodbye to José, Panchito and Donald Duck for me!
Kali River Rapids
Disney’s Animal Kingdom‘s Asia will see the temporary closure of Kali River Rapids on Monday, January 6th. While there is no reopening date scheduled, water rides like this commonly close for maintenance during the winter months. On second thought, Orlando’s current forecast may be a little too cold to fully enjoy the rapids this weekend!
