Chloe’s Pooh Corner: Magic Kingdom’s Best Coconut Dessert

It’s time to set your clocks to Pooh time, as we look at another Walt Disney World snack. We’re back on the hunt for a little smackerel of something… this time at Magic Kingdom!

The world-famous Jungle Cruise… the gentle boat ride that is Pirates of the Caribbean… and now, the Tropical Serenade float. These are the reasons I keep coming back into Adventureland on those sweltering hot Florida days. This tropical dessert has been around for about 5 years now at Aloha Isle Refreshments (it was originally introduced for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary), and if you’re ready to branch out from the classic pineapple Dole Whip, it’s absolutely worth a try.

The name “Tropical Serenade” is actually a nod to the original version of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. When Walt Disney World first opened in 1971, the show was called Tropical Serenade before eventually becoming the Enchanted Tiki Room we know today!

The float combines coconut soft-serve with pineapple-orange-guava (POG) juice for a drinkable dessert that’s basically sunshine in a cup. And as if that wasn’t enough, it’s topped with an upside-down pineapple cake pop. For $8.29, you’re getting a pretty fun lineup of tropical flavors in one snack.

A lot of coconut-flavored desserts lean more toward generic sweetness than actual coconut flavor, but this soft-serve really delivers. The coconut taste is bold, creamy, and instantly brings that “on vacation” feeling with every bite. Paired with the super fruity POG juice, it creates a mix that’s refreshing and rich at the same time.

Then there’s the cake pop on top, coated in candy shell and rolled in sweetened flaked coconut for extra texture. Inside is a dense, moist cake bite with a spiced pineapple flavor that ties everything together nicely.

Until the beloved Citrus Swirl makes its return (whenever that might be), this float has easily become my go-to sweet treat in Magic Kingdom. And if you’ve always stuck with the classic pineapple Dole Whip, consider this your sign to give the coconut a shot at least once. You might just find a new favorite!

The coconut soft-serve works on its own, the POG juice works on its own, but both of them melted together? This creamy concoction is vacation in a cup! In a shocking turn of events (sarcasm~) I’m giving the Tropical Serenade a five out of five on the rumbly in my tumbly scale!

TIPS:

  • Mobile ordering is touch-and-go here. Lately, during the early and late afternoon (peak ice cream time) Mobile Ordering hasn’t been available, but the normal line moves pretty quickly even if it’s 10+ families deep.
  • There isn’t much seating nearby in Adventureland, but I like to take my Aloha Isle refreshments over to the covered area along Frontierland’s storefronts, near the shops or Country Bear Jamboree.

Until next time, be grateful for your plateful!
