Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and the entire Muppets Courtyard officially closed on June 7th at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Construction walls are up, but the show’s marquee still stands!

There’s new construction walls blocking off access to Muppet Courtyard, including some updated concept art for the Monsters, Inc.-themed land coming to the area. Let’s compare the previously-released concept art and spot some new differences.
Original Concept Art:

Updated Concept Art:

– As seen along the lower right, the new art shows a more scaled back the entrance to the land, with the overhead detail on the iron gates being removed.
– The theater which previously housed Muppet*Vision has been renamed from The Monstro to The Glob, as seen on the vertical sign above the marquee.
– The Miss Piggy fountain will be updated instead of replaced, versus the Mike Wazowski fountain in the original artwork. (Here’s hoping Miss Piggy and the other character elements will be featured on a new fountain one day!)
– Some billboards have been removed along the left side, including the one that referenced Magic Kingdom‘s Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor on a rooftop.
– The buildings throughout Monstropolis now appear more colorful.
– Looking back at the factory building for the Monsters. Inc. door coaster, the building sits farther back than originally proposed, featuring more of a courtyard including prop cars and a covered playground area.

It’s interesting that Disney chose to unveil this updated concept art directly on the construction walls—offering a visual tease without any official announcement or details just yet. What do you think of the updated artwork for the Monsters, Inc. land?
