While attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, we decided to try out the curb-to-curb service from Disney’s Minnie Van service. This unique service allows guests to book a Lyft ride in a polka-dotted, Disney-themed minivan driven by a cast member. They’re also equipped with amenities such as built-in car seats for young children, making it an excellent choice for families traveling with little ones. Since the DIS Unlimited team consists of a group of [Orlando local] adults traveling around the Walt Disney World resort, we haven’t considered the Minnie Van service to be worth the extra cost. This all changed on a Magic Kingdom party night…
We had a reservation at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. When ordering the Lyft, we could confirm whether we wanted to be picked up at the lobby or outside a specific resort building number. Curbside service!
We met our friendly cast member driver, who made sure we were safe and comfortable before taking off for Magic Kingdom. New Mickey Mouse shorts were provided to backseat riders via headrest screens (and since it’s the holidays, seasonal episodes are being shown!).
10 minutes later, our Minnie Van brought us right up to the Magic Kingdom bus loop — we feel like the price of Minnie Van is worth avoiding the headache of parking at the Ticket & Transportation Center and having to ferry or monorail over. This was especially handy on a party night, as we could leisurely get ready in the room and not have to worry about relying on the resort’s Magic Kingdom bus schedule to maximize Christmas party time.
The cost for our trip from All-Star Movies to Magic Kingdom on this particular evening was $45, plus tip. A standard Lyft was also available at that time for $27. However, standard Lyft rides drop you off at the Ticket & Transportation Center, NOT the Magic Kingdom bus loop.
Where you’re dropped off within the bus loop also acts as your pick-up point, should you decide to take a Minnie Van back to your resort. There’s a sign posted including the day’s operating hours. On a MVMCP night, Minnie Van service is available for pick-up from the same drop-off location up until 1AM.
The entire Minnie Van process was super easy. We highly recommend it for when you’re trying to maximize your time at Magic Kingdom.
