Afternoon tea is returning to one of the most elegant corners of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and it’s doing so with a whimsical new twist inspired by a classic Disney story.
Disney has shared the first look at the reimagined tea experience inside The Garden View Lounge, set to officially reopen on March 19, 2026. The refreshed offering blends the refined Victorian style long associated with the Grand Floridian with playful nods to Alice in Wonderland.
Based on the photos released by Disney, the space looks bright, airy, and filled with natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the lounge, giving it the feeling of a sunlit conservatory overlooking a lush garden. Disney describes says its like stepping inside “feels like walking into a sunlit conservatory,” with natural light pouring into the room throughout the day.

Here’s a quick comparison from before its 2020 closure, to today’s first glimpse:

The new furnishings offer a modern and comfortable take on the resort’s signature Victorian aesthetic. Plush fabrics, floral patterns, and soft hues of green, blue, and gold help create a calm, garden-inspired atmosphere. Disney also notes that “organic shapes appear throughout the room, portraying the flowers and leaves you’d find in a flourishing garden.”
Brass-framed mirrors resemble flower petals, stained-glass windows highlight native Floridian birds, and the winding vine-inspired carpet even features subtle hidden Mickeys.

The returning Afternoon Tea Service will feature a menu inspired by the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, paired with a presentation of Twinings teas. Guests can choose between a traditional tea service or a plant-based option, while younger visitors will have their own children’s tea menu available.

While we haven’t had the chance to experience the refreshed lounge in person yet, this looks like a nice, charming way to slow down and relax during a visit to Walt Disney World. For fans of the Grand Floridian’s classic elegance (and a touch of Wonderland whimsy) this looks like a delightful return of a beloved tradition! Will you be booking a tea time?
