Welcome to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Although it was a bittersweet day for the park, it is nice to see Disney making progress in the parks after years of being practically dormant. The Great Movie Ride will be sorely missed but the future seems to be bright for Walt Disney World. It was very evident today the mark this attraction has made on guests as well as cast members. I hope that the new Mickey attraction is able to create just as many memories as the Great Movie Ride has. A huge ‘thank you’ to all the cast members who made this day truly magical! Enjoy the photo report.
There were additional streetmosphere characters welcoming guests due to the anticipated crowds wishing to bid the iconic attraction a well-deserved farewell.
There were an abundance of Universe of Energy and Great Movie Ride t-shirts being sported all over the park.
One PhotoPass photographer had this awesome clapperboard commemorating the final day of the attraction!
It is currently unknown how or if the facade will change for the upcoming Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, but hopefully it will not stray too far from the current look of the iconic Chinese Theatre.
There was quite a bit of additional queue space for the final day in operation. The wait time fluctuated anywhere from 110 minutes to 50 minutes throughout the day.
It was fun getting to see former and current cast members sharing their memories throughout the years. You could tell that everyone really cares for this attraction!
It was strange seeing these movie props for the last time! If you could pick any to keep from the attraction, which would you choose?
“Ready when you are CB”
“Come on with the rain, I’ve a smile on my face…”
“I said scram outta here or yer gonna got hoyt!”
“Well, that’s a mighty tough territory you’re heading into pilgrim”
“Warning! Remain in your vehicle. The area you are entering is extremely dangerous. Proceed with caution.”
“I don’t think they’d notice a few extra bodies around here if ya know what I mean.”
“I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…”
That’s all from Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the movies!
