It’s almost time to start planning your 2016 Walt Disney World vacation. Walt Disney World will be releasing the pricing and availability for 2016 rooms and packages on June 22, 2015. Now is a great time to do a little research, talk with the family, decide on the dates and a starting budget for your trip.
You should do some research before you book your trip. If you are unsure how best to spend your vacation dollars you should consider working with a Travel Agent. They will be able to help with any questions or concerns you might have prior to booking. It’s a good idea to book at least 180 days in advance of when you want to go to get the best availability. A good Travel Agent will also keep an eye out for any discounts they could apply to your reservation until the day you travel. This way you know you have someone that is helping to make sure you have the best vacation possible. Another benefit of booking with a travel agent is that you will be dealing with the same person every time instead of a new voice on the phone. They will also be happy to make your dining reservations for you when that booking window opens. No need for you to spend time on the phone or computer trying to arrange it all. It also helps if you do some reading or looking at Disney planning websites to help with your choices.
Once you have an idea of your budget you can start thinking about the Walt Disney Resort(WDW) you would like to stay in. WDW offers a resort for all types of budgets. You have the value, moderate, deluxe, and the deluxe villas. If you are a family of 5 or more there are some resorts that can accomodate you in one room, while others require 2 rooms for the family. Are you driving, or will you be taking Disney’s Magical Express to get to your resort? Do you want to be close enough to one of the theme parks that you can walk or take a boat instead of the bus? These are all things to have in mind when planning your vacation.
You will also need to decide if you want to book a room only or a package with theme park tickets and dining. When purchasing tickets you will need to consider whether you will visit more than one park each day and just how many days you would like. You can also purchase a water park add on to the tickets. I would suggest if you are coming in the winter months that you decide about the water parks once you are here. Yes, it does get too cold to swim here in Orlando sometimes in the winter. I also suggest planning a resort day where you don’t go into a theme park and just relax and enjoy the pool and amenities at your resort. WDW offers a military discount for certain dates, along with the occasional Annual pass and Florida resident discounts.
If you would like one of the dining plans that WDW offers you might want to decide if this is the best value for your family. Will you be spending more per person than the dining plan costs? Are you a fan of knowing in advance exactly how much the vacation is going to cost? You will need to have a package with theme park tickets in order to add on the dining plan. You can’t add a dining plan to a room only reservation.
If all of this sounds intimidating don’t be afraid to book with a Travel Agent. They will help you make the most of your time and money. Walt Disney World is a great place to forget about life for awhile and create some wonderful family memories. ‘Til next time. See you in the parks!
