California Governor Shuts Down Bars and Indoor Restaurant Operations in Orange County

California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered the closure of indoor restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and more in Orange County and several other counties around the state.

This weekend, Gov. Newsom closed bars in several counties after COVID-19 cases were seen increasing, but today’s announcement is more widespread, affecting 19 counties and more indoor operations.

The following must close their indoor operations: restaurants, wineries & tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos, museums, and cardrooms. Bars must close all operations.

In addition to Orange, the following counties have been impacted: Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Ventura.

The order is expected to be in place for at least 3 weeks.

Gov. Newsom also closed parking lots at many state beaches over the busy holiday weekend.
