With this year’s first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party just days away, the iconic autumnal decor has arrived at Magic Kingdom‘s Town Square and Main Street U.S.A. areas… all while we’re still feeling the heat of summer with a crisp 95 degrees and humidity. Fans and solar umbrellas in hand, the sight of those Mickey pumpkin wreaths lining Main Street still gives us a boost of Halloween/Disney parks serotonin we’re all in need of.

Just past the Magic Kingdom turnstiles, approaching the Main Street train station, you’ll spot a new seasonal Mickey floral – he’s wearing a superhero mask (or perhaps a burgler’s mask? hmm…) with black bats sprinkled about.

Once inside the park, Halloween decorations now blanket Town Square and line every lamppost of Main Street, U.S.A., officially kicking off the spooky season.

— MNSSHP party goers will soon be lining up at the Town Square Theater on event nights to meet Jack & Sally; especially for Jack’s new look!

The star of the show? The return of the iconic Mickey pumpkin wreaths; those grinning, round-eared jack-o’-lanterns framed by vibrant fall leaves and sunflowers. It’s not Halloween at Disney World until those familiar faces are glowing under the Florida sun.

Behind the scenes, Disney’s Holiday Services and Cast Decor teams spend all year preparing for this seasonal switch. Then, practically overnight, the park is transformed. It all happened last night. Long after the last guest left for the evening, teams rolled in and worked through the night to line rooftops, windows, and walkways with jack-o’-lanterns, bunting, and more.

Many of the orange and white jack-o’-lanterns on the rooftops above Main Street storefronts feature custom carvings that reflect the shops they sit above.

One of my favorite pumpkins this year is the double decker pairing, sitting just above the Chamber of Commerce.

And we can’t forget the beloved Town Square scarecrows, dressed as citizens of Main Street, including a marching band player, the mayor, a baseball player from Casey’s, bakers from the Confectionary, and others.

My personal favorite? The one dressed like a Main Street Emporium Cast Member, complete with a shopping bag and Mickey Mouse pumpkin toy. (Seriously, can they sell a rag doll like this inside the Emporium?!)

For many of us Disney fans, fall doesn’t truly begin until you see those Mickey jack-o’-lanterns smiling down from every lamppost. From the rooftop pumpkins to the festive scarecrows and crisp autumn bunting, all signs point to HALLOWEEN! Stay tuned, we’ll be back with more after this Friday’s MNSSHP kick-off. Will you be visiting Walt Disney World for the fall season?
