Tour a New Island Tower Room at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

Tucked within the heart of Walt Disney World, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort brings a fresh take on tropical luxury. The latest addition to the Disney Vacation Club resort catalog, which opened in late 2024, blends the spirit of the South Pacific with modern accommodations, offering an elevated stay just steps from the Magic Kingdom monorail line. Best of all, you don’t need to be a DVC member to book; Island Tower rooms are available to everyone when inventory is open.

The tower’s decor is filled with textures, patterns, and motifs straight from the South Pacific, including details inspired by Disney’s Moana, and even a few hidden Mickeys! This theme continues throughout each of the resort rooms.

Let’s step inside a 1-bedroom villa at Island Tower, perfect for families or couples looking for extra space and comfort.

These villas typically sleep up to 5 guests and include a king-size bed in the master bedroom, a queen-size pull-down bed in the living room, and a single pull-down bed for smaller guests.

The living space is bright and welcoming, with mid-century modern furnishings accented by Polynesian textures, patterns and warm wood tones. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide natural light and often offer views of Seven Seas Lagoon or Cinderella Castle, depending on your room location. Just imagine catching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the comfort of your room!

One of the highlights of the villa is the fully equipped kitchen, complete with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and all the utensils needed to cook a family meal.

There’s also a spacious dining area and a washer and dryer tucked away for convenience—ideal for longer stays.

Leading from the master bedroom area, the bathroom is split into two areas; featuring a walk-in rainfall shower on one side, a soaking tub in the middle, and a toilet behind a frosted glass door on the other side, plus double vanities.

Fun Facts & Helpful Tips

  • The Polynesian Village Resort opened in 1971, making it one of the original Walt Disney World resorts. The Island Tower’s design is inspired by original concept artwork created for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort back in the 1960s. Imagineers revisited these early sketches to help shape the tower’s unique look, bringing a decades-old vision to life with a modern twist. This artwork can be found within the second level of the lobby area:

  • Scattered throughout the tower are four beautifully landscaped terrace gardens, offering peaceful retreats for tower guests to unwind. Some of these terraces even provide views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night!

  • The large cylindrical sculptures hanging from the Island Tower lobby’s ceiling are filled with living moss!

  • From the Polynesian, be sure to take advantage of the monorail, boat transportation, or walk to the Transportation & Ticket Center to get to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT with ease.
