If You Only See One Disney Parade, This Is the One

Over the years, I’ve had my fair share (and then some) of Disney entertainment. At parks all around the world, I’ve seen everything from character cavalcades to full fireworks spectaculars, and each one has earned a special place on my list of treasured Disney experiences. While I honestly can’t think of one I didn’t enjoy, there are a few that rise above the rest. Fireworks are definitely a favorite of mine, largely because you can see them from nearly anywhere in the park without being confined to a specific viewing area. Even though Disney arguably does fireworks better than almost anywhere else on earth, they can feel a bit generic over time.

Parades, on the other hand, are uniquely magical in a way that feels unmistakably Disney. And when it comes to Disney parades, there’s one that stands out above the rest for me.

While many guests might first think of the holiday parades at the Disneyland Resort or the Boo To You Halloween Parade during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, my heart lies with a more classic offering that captures the timeless storytelling Disney is known for. Disneyland Park’s Paint the Night Parade is the one I love the most, and I’m thrilled to share that it will be returning to the park on January 30th, 2026.

Paint the Night Parade is a vibrant nighttime procession filled with sparkling lights, beloved Disney characters, and imaginative floats that dazzle as they glide down the parade route with music, energy, and thousands of LED lights. The show might not have the flashiest special effects or the most unusual character lineup of all Disneyland entertainment, but the floats are impressive and the light display in the darkened Main Street, U.S.A., sparkles with just the right amount of pixie dust to make you feel like you’re part of the magic. Characters interact with guests as they make their way through the park, and the night setting cleverly hides the mechanics of the show, so each float feels as though it is genuinely floating toward you. Talented dancers fill the spaces in between, moving gracefully in glittering costumes adorned with lights. It’s everything a classic Disney parade should be and then some.

If there’s one parade I recommend you make time for, Paint the Night is it. I suggest finding your spot well ahead of time so you can enjoy the full experience. Sitting on the curb with a quick-service dinner and good company is a great way to pass the time while you wait. If you only see one Disney parade during your visit, this should be the one at the top of your list.

Let me know what your favorite Disney Parks parade is, and whether you’ve seen Disneyland’s Paint the Night. I’m always curious to hear how it stacks up against the rest of your Disney entertainment favorites!
