There’s a LOT to fit into five hours at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and that includes eating your way through the event-exclusive food. After attending this year’s party and trying several of the Halloween offerings, I’ve narrowed it down to three menu items I’d absolutely get again, plus one bonus that’s worth mentioning. We’ve got sweet, savory, and what may genuinely be one of my favorite desserts I’ve ever had at Walt Disney World!
Headless Horseman Treat | $6.99
Location: Casey’s Corner
Let’s start with the winner… The Headless Horseman Treat is a pumpkin pie tart topped with whipped cheesecake, spiced caramel panna cotta, candied pecans, and marshmallow buttercream “flames.”
I expected a pumpkin pie dessert with a cute little pumpkin decoration on top. Then the pumpkin jiggled. That’s when I realized the menu wasn’t kidding about the panna cotta. Oh. My. WOW.
Everything works together incredibly well, especially the fresh pumpkin pie filling inside the soft, buttery pie crust. The whipped cheesecake adds a creamy tang, while the candied pecans give it a little crunch against all those softer textures. Despite how much is happening on top, it still tastes like pumpkin pie rather than getting lost underneath a pile of sugary toppings.
This was easily my favorite thing I ate at the party and honestly one of the best treats I’ve had at Walt Disney World in a long time. I’d start AND end my party night with one. In fact, it’s good enough that I briefly considered whether I needed another party ticket this year just to eat it again… You know, for research.
Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie | $9.99
Location: The Friar’s Nook
For something savory, head to Fantasyland for the Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie, made with buffalo chicken and mozzarella wrapped in flaky dough, then topped with blue cheese crumbles and Buffalo-Ranch.
The Friar’s Nook already does buffalo chicken pretty well, and this hand pie continues that tradition. Mine was served piping hot with a crisp, flaky exterior and plenty of filling inside.
There’s a good buffalo tang and a little heat, while the blue cheese gives it that sharper flavor I want with buffalo chicken. It’s also substantial enough to feel like actual food rather than another Halloween snack, which comes in handy when you’re bouncing between party stops.
This would be my pick if you need something savory and quick to break up all that trick-or-treat candy.
Oogie Boogie Slushy | $6.99
Location: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café
The Oogie Boogie Slushy is frozen apple cider topped with cinnamon whipped cream and sour gummy candy. Think of it as the fall version of LeFou’s Brew. “Ooo, I’m really scared!”
I highly recommend mixing the cinnamon whipped cream into the frozen drink rather than leaving it sitting on top. It gives the apple base a creamier consistency and brings that cinnamon flavor into each sip. Plus, the gummy worms are a fun touch of trick-or-treat!
I will say I didn’t get much cider from it. The flavor reminded me more of frozen apple juice, but I still enjoyed it. It’s cold, refreshing, and considerably easier to tackle during a hot Florida Halloween night than some of the heavier desserts available around the park.
Bonus: Haunting Jalapeño Tots | $10.49
Also at The Friar’s Nook, the Haunting Jalapeño Tots are topped with plant-based black bean chili, cheddar sauce, and jalapeño sauce.
I’m glad to see a vegetarian savory option among all the party food, but these landed more in the “just okay” category for me. With a name like Haunting Jalapeño, I wanted more jalapeño flavor and definitely more heat.
They’re filling and perfectly fine if the combination sounds good to you, but if I were choosing only one savory dish from Friar’s Nook, I’d go straight for that Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie.
With only five official party hours, you can’t really eat everything on the MNSSHP menu in one night. These three give you a nice mix without spending your entire evening chasing food around Magic Kingdom. And if you only have room for one? Headless Horseman Treat. No contest.
