Walt Disney World Introduces ‘Up Close with Rhinos’ Backstage Tour Beginning Nov. 1

Guests will soon have the chance to make a genuine connection with the white rhinos at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as part of an exciting new backstage experience called ‘Up Close with Rhinos.’

Beginning November 1, 2018, a new 60-minute guided tour will bring guests behind-the-scenes for an exclusive look into how the dedicated animal team takes care of the white rhinos that are seen while riding Kilimanjaro Safaris. Additionally, guests will learn about Disney’s participation in helping to save endangered rhinos in the wild.

As part of this new experience, guests could even have an opportunity to touch a rhino.

The cast members at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are looking forward to the tour as well. Caitlin Miller, a member of the rhino care team said, “I love talking to guests about how unique each individual rhino’s personality is. I know once guests come and meet the rhinos, they are going to see just how amazing they are and will want to help us secure a future for them.”

The ‘Up Close with Rhinos’ tour will be offered at 11:00 a.m. daily and the booking window for the one-hour experience is set to open on September 22, which is World Rhino Day. Guests must be at least 4 years old to take part and the cost is $40 (plus tax) per person. Select Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members should check for available discounts. For reservations, call (407) WDW-PLAY.
