Due to the construction of the Star Wars land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the popular Star Wars Weekends event will not take place next year. The article did not say when the event would return, but presumably, it will not be until construction is completed.

Star Wars Launch Bay will be opening in the old Magic of Disney Animation building. The area will be a central hub for Star Wars information, with behind-the-scenes looks at the films, merchandise, meet and greets with Chewbacca and Darth Vader and specialty food offerings.

A new adventure based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens will also be arriving at the Star Tours attraction. For the first few months, the new adventure will be part of every ride. After that, it will be randomized in with the other storylines in the attraction.

As previously announced, the Jedi Training Academy will be re-imagined. Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple will “take younglings to the secret site of an ancient Jedi temple where they will face Darth Vader along with the Seventh Sister – a new villain from the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels.”

“Star Wars: Path of the Jedi” will show guests scenes from the Star Wars films, as a way to introduce everyone to the Star Wars universe.

The new experiences will open December 1.

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
