Yesterday, I was faced with a frustrating question that relentlessly rolled around in my mind, and now, my friends, I needed to talk it out in a safe place. Did you happen to see the new Vampire Stitch Popcorn Bucket coming soon to Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line? Well, the first thing I always notice in the comments is people asking, ”What about the other parks?” Even though we want points of difference between our Disneyland and Walt Dinsey World experiences, when it comes to the one-off products, there is a considerable demand to offer them in all locations equally. It got me thinking about the whole popcorn bucket concept and why I’ve never seen them sold online.
**Our Disney Debate topic enters the chat.**
Sure, your purchase is based on the idea of an in-park snack that is refillable for a small fee for the length of your stay; however, with so many guests enjoying more from their popcorn buckets at home, is it so far-fetched to offer them sans popcorn online? Can you imagine having access to some of the adorable versions we see at the international Disney theme parks? If you aren’t familiar with them, you can check some of them out here. Honestly, many of you might remember my long-standing stance on this particular Disney item as being less than enthusiastic simply because I don’t like carrying more things around. That said, I’ve been tempted more than once by one of these in a stunning new style that I would prefer to use for a different purpose at home.
I’d love to know what our DIS community thinks on this one. Should the popcorn buckets stay in the parks only? Or would there be a market for them to be sold online as well? Even though refillable buckets, either standard or premium designs, are only refillable for the length of your stay, I am sure Disney could come up with a way for ones purchased online to be activated and used for a specific time with just a swipe of your MagicBand. After all, what a perfect way to secure the one you want to use for your vacation ahead of time if it won’t be available while you are physically in the parks. In the comments section below, let us know if you would purchase one online for home or with a popcorn subscription for your next visit.
Our poll software is having a few feelings about this topic as well, so we are going to add the answers manually so you can copy and paste your answers:
- A: No, keep them in the parks only
- B: Sell only some special ones online
- C: I want them all online!
- D: Make the International versions available online
- E: I don’t care, I don’t use Popcorn Buckets
Oh, super cute afterthought: what if they weren’t sold with a popcorn subscription for your next stay and instead came with a packet of kernels to pop at home in your new Disney Popcorn Bucket? If it is the right design, I’d buy it.
