Hey howdy hey, and a very hippy-happy NEW YEAR to you! Welcome to another curated list of vintage goodies from yours truly! While we’re settling into 2025 – readying ourselves by meal-prepping, cleaning out our closets, or counting down to our next theme park vacation – let’s take a breather and check out some more vintage Disney goodness. Whether you believe in New Years resolutions or not, I have a pro tip to encourage some home organization… while also enabling your vintage shopping needs. How do you feel about vintage metal lunch boxes? I love ’em. I have a collection of quite a few… utilizing them for jewelry, sticker or greeting card storage, and I’ve been known to fashion them as purses from time to time. If you’d like to join my club, I’ve compiled a few of my favorite vintage lunch boxes that are currently available on eBay for good prices.
First up, this 1960s round-top metal lunchbox is one of those classic Disneyana pieces every fan should have. Each side of the school bus lunch box is filled with Disney characters, including Dumbo, Thumper, Bambi, Jiminy Cricket, Alice and many more. And with Goofy at the wheel, what could possibly go wrong? Where have I heard that before? I just love how the bottom of the box is printed as the underside of the bus, too!

It ain’t easy being little, adorable, and green. This 1985 Muppet Babies lunchbox is one of my personal favorites. Check out the Indiana Jones-inspired scene printed on one of the sides, and little Beaker in the submarine on the bottom! This box is pretty common to find online, but this particular listing is for one in vibrant condition. Plus, it comes with a PINK thermos with baby Kermie!

Well, while we’re here, speaking of the Muppets… this 1978 box features scenery from The Muppet Show, with various felted friends plastered on each side. Ready those Muppet*Vision 3D farewell outfits before it’s time to light the lights on a Mayhem-filled Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

It wouldn’t be a trip to Magic Kingdom without a souvenir of some sort. Imagine if Walt Disney World still made park-specific metal lunchboxes? This 1979 one features plenty of iconic MK attractions; including our gothic Haunted Mansion, a character-filled Space Mountain rocket, bathing Elephants, and a pirate aiming his gun at Mickey, Donald, or Pluto… wait, what? This is one of those clearly pre-loved lunchboxes with a child’s name written inside for school. How charming. Thanks, Jeremy Ransch!

Another favorite of mine is the Empire Strikes Back lunchbox from the 80s. Each side is filled with beautifully blue-tinted scenes from the [best] Star Wars film, complete with Luke atop a Tauntaun and AT-ATs stomping through the snow. Who’s scruffy looking?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s selection of vintage metal lunch boxes! Let me know if you’d like to see anything specific next time around and I’ll include them in my weekly searches. TTFN!
