Well, here it is folks. The news we’ve all been waiting for? Dreading? Looking forward to? It depends on where you stand with Kermit and the gang, I guess.
Cue the Monsters, Inc. opening theme!
Disney has just announced that the Monsters, Inc. land originally announced at this year’s D23 Experience Showcase is officially replacing Muppets Courtyard and Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. To make way for Monstropolis, the Muppets will take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, by teaming up with “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival”.
Disney also says there will be “plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard” — BRING it ON.
The previous home of Muppet*Vision will host a new Monsters, Inc.-themed theater show.
Disney says there is still time to enjoy both Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Muppet*Vision 3D as they currently stand. While they haven’t mentioned closures for PizzeRizzo or Mama Melrose’s, the concept art above all but confirms it.
Concerning Muppet*Vision, Disney says they are having “creative conversations” and exploring methods to preserve the film and other parts of the attraction for fans to enjoy in the future. (Here’s where I’d like to ask them to just pick up Muppet Avenue in its entirety and put it back by Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. There’s room right?)
How do you feel about this news?
