Ready when you are, C.B.! Welcome to another curated list of vintage goodies from yours truly!
Alright, I’m feeling very nostalgic for Disney-MGM Studios this week… what else is new? Between Disney surprisingly releasing this new water bottle, and my sharing of where you can spot the park’s old icon today, everything’s coming up Earffel Tower! Check out these vintage souvenirs, straight from the bygone era of Disney’s park that was originally devoted to moviemaking magic.
First up, we have a prophecy of sorts. The backside postcard description reads “Mickey & Minnie get ready to enjoy The Great Movie Ride”… more like TAKE OVER The Great Movie Ride, am I right? Anyways, this postcard is a great find. There’s even a little Earffel Tower on the back! I love putting vintage cards and paper memorabilia in fun frames for a wall collage. This one’s perfect for my fellow die-hard GMR lovers!
Available HERE | $12.99
With how much The Great Movie Ride meant for the park, it’s wild how little merchandise we have today to show for it. I recently discovered this rarer t-shirt design from 1989 featuring Goofy in the Singin’ In The Rain scene, and this listing is a great price!
Available HERE | $34.99
Ya’ll know how much I love my vintage buttons! They easily add a pop of fun to any tote bag or jacket. This one is a pretty cerulean blue with Mickey and Minnie against a gold star. It’s dated 1987, which is 2 years before Disney-MGM Studios even opened!
Available HERE | $6.99
Back to the Earffel Tower… I remember when I found this one out in the wild while pin trading with Disney Cast Members! 2000’s “4 Parks One World” miniature pin set is absolutely to die for, with all four park icons represented as half-inch designs. You can easily find individual pieces or the complete set online, we’re just featuring the one and only Earffel Tower today.
Available HERE | $10.00
Do you like to show off your Disney geekery while driving around? Hey, me too! This vintage plastic license plate is great for just that, or you could hang it on a wall or display shelf for safer keeping. This design has it all: Gertie the dinosaur, Catastrophe Canyon from the Backlot Tour, the Sorcerer Hat AND an Earffel Tower, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Tower of Terror. WOW.
Available HERE | $20.00
Last up for today, we have another piece that was manufactured before the park’s opening year of 1989. Made in 1987, this embroidered satin jacket is a wardrobe staple! It’s not too loudly Disney, but those who know, know.
Available HERE | $69.99
I hope you enjoyed this week’s selection of vintage Disney-MGM Studios merch! Let me know if you’d like to see anything specific next time around and I’ll include them in my weekly searches.
But we’ve only scratched the surface of what Hollywood has to offer… There are still thousands of other great movies out there waiting for you to discover. Here a just a few of my favorites:
