Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto is a new family-friendly attraction coming to Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto, the attraction will invite guests inside Casita for a celebration of Antonio Madrigal and his special ability to communicate with animals.
The story takes place on Antonio’s gift day, with guests welcomed into the Madrigal family home for the occasion. At the heart of the attraction is the idea that everyone belongs to the familia of living things, regardless of their individual gifts or abilities.
Even better for families, Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto will have no height requirement, allowing guests of all ages to experience the attraction together.
What Will Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto Be Like?
The attraction will take guests beyond the parts of Casita seen in Encanto, expanding the Madrigal family home with new rooms and environments created specifically for the attraction.
Guests will board ride vehicles designed to look as though Casita has magically assembled pieces of furniture to carry them through the house. The vehicles will have personality of their own, reacting to the scenes and action happening around them as guests make their way through Casita.
The journey eventually heads upstairs and into Antonio’s room, where his magical gift has transformed the space into a lush rainforest filled with wildlife.
More than 50 animals will be represented throughout the attraction, including a capybara, toucan, and donkey. Disney has even previewed one particularly cute moment involving a capybara getting a haircut.
Bringing Colombia and Its Wildlife to Animal Kingdom
Authenticity is playing an important role in the development of Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto.
Walt Disney Imagineering traveled to Colombia while researching Tropical Americas, studying the region’s architecture, colors, materials, climate, terrain, and culture to help shape the environments guests will experience.
Imagineers are also working with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team to make sure the animals represented within the attraction are accurate to Colombia. That detail is especially important for an Encanto attraction being created specifically for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where animals and the natural world are central to the park’s storytelling.
Encanto Cast Members Return
Several members of the original Encanto voice cast are returning to portray their characters for the attraction.
Stephanie Beatriz returns as Mirabel, Jessica Darrow as Luisa, and Diane Guerrero as Isabela, helping continue the Madrigal family’s story beyond the animated film.
Darrow described the opportunity to turn the world of Encanto into a physical experience:
“it’s sort of a perfect film to take all these colors and excitement out of and allow audiences to immerse themselves in it.”
A New Encanto Story Created for Animal Kingdom
While Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto will feature the Madrigal family, Casita, and familiar elements from the movie, the attraction isn’t simply recreating the events of Encanto. Its story expands the world of the film and gives guests the chance to explore areas of the magical house they haven’t seen before.
The focus on Antonio’s connection with animals, the Colombian setting, and dozens of animal species also gives the attraction a direct connection to the themes of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto will be one of the major attractions in Tropical Americas, joining Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent and El Carrusel de los Animalitos in the new land.
