1. Ride Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
Even if you’re not much into thrill rides or are afraid of heights, you should try riding Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT at least once! In fact, it’s very possible to not enjoy The Twilight Zone Tower or Terror at Walt Disney World but love Mission: Breakout at Disney California Adventure. Same ride mechanism, completely different experience. The details in the queue, pre-show, soundtrack, and storyline are all so fun and a treat for Marvel fans.
The queue takes guests into the Tivan Collection, where the Collector himself is hosting a tour of his most treasured collectibles. These items include familiar Marvel treasures like an Asgardian hammer, Loki’s shackles, a Hydra gun, and even Cosmo the dog. The Tivan Group’s newest collectible is the Guardians of the Galaxy and it’s your job to help them break out. This means an incredible Rocket animatronic in the pre-show, hilarious commentary from Drax, and of course, a killer soundtrack.
2. Look for Easter Eggs within the Attractions
Just like any Marvel movie, comedy and tongue and cheek moments can also be found in Avengers Campus. Both WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT have Easter eggs both in the queues and rides.
At Web Slingers, there are quite a few Marvel deep cuts for fans-
- Lost and found poster for Lunella/ Moon Girl’s Devil Dinosaur
- Luxo Jr. Lamp on Peter Parker’s desk during the pre-show
- “Gear-Grabber” claw machine game in the pre-show room contains a Baymax plush and 3-D glasses from It’s Tough to Be a Bug (formerly at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Avengers Campus took over the former Bugs Land at Disney California Adventure)
- 1950s map of the Stark Industrial Complex (now home of Avengers Campus)
- Graffiti art on the outside of the attraction from Miles Morales
Some of the Easter eggs within Mission Breakout –
- The Collector’s garden is named the “Gardens of the Galaxy”
- Figment from Journey Into Imagination is hidden in one the tanks inside the main queue area
- During the pre-show there is a maquette of the “Hellhound” from the Haunted Mansion on the Collector’s desk
- Also during the pre-show, the man in one of the tanks asking about parking is Stan Lee
- On the shelves in the Collector’s office you might spot familiar Disneyland props like a head from one of the it’s a small world dolls plus books and a bell hop hat from the former Tower of Terror
- In the loading area after the pre-show, be sure to spot one of the animatronic yetis from the Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction at Disneyland
3. Check the Disneyland App For Entertainment Times
Part of the magic of Avengers Campus is never knowing which Avenger you might see! Be sure to build enough time into your visit to soak in the atmosphere and see one of the frequent shows that happen within the land. The best thing about this entertainment is it happens within the landscape of Avengers Campus making it feel like a real, working training ground for the Avengers. To make sure you don’t miss seeing your favorite Avenger, you can find the show times by searching within the Disneyland app.
Some of the shows and encounters you might experience –
- The Amazing Spider-Man! – see Spiderman run through a training demo using new tech to fly through the air and repel down from the W.E.B. building
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance-Off – watch Star-Lord and Gamora dance-off to popular songs from the Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack
- Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje – the Wakanda Warriors march through Avengers Campus to lead a training session for young warriors looking to help defend Wakanda

4. Savor Pym’s Test Kitchen and Tasting Lab
Some of the best food and drinks at Disney California Adventure can be found in Avengers Campus! The Pym Test Kitchen (quick service restaurant) and Tasting Lab (cocktails, craft beer, and limited snacks) are right beside each other and offer unique favorites that should be on your Disneyland must have list. Three favorite menu items include –
- R&D Martini – espresso martini with cereal-infused milk, dark chocolate espresso beans, and cereal crumbles (Pym Tasting Lab)
- Not so Little Chicken Sandwich – fried chicken breast, teriyaki and red chili sauces, pickled cabbage slaw on a brioche bun and served crispy potato bites (Pym Test Kitchen)
- Choco Smash Bar – extra large candy bar made with dark chocolate, peanuts, caramel, nougat, and a chocolate brownie (Pym Test Kitchen)
5. Visit During the Day and at Night
There are so many details you can find just walking around Avengers Campus like Doctor Strange’s Ancient Sanctum, a photo op that makes it look like you’re falling into the multiverse, signage for the previous Stark Industries Factory that once stood where Avengers Campus is now, a hidden Mickey in the alien liquid coming from the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout, and photo ops with Avengers.
Comparatively, the space transforms at night time like this glowing Arc Reactor which is a nod to Tony Starks invention to power his Iron Man suit. Other elements like the glowing Collector’s fortress and Doctor Strange’s Orb of Cagliostro, bring the land new life. Much of the entertainment happens during daytime hours but you should at least walk through the land or ride Mission: Breakout at night!
What better way to soak in the incredible theming of Avengers Campus than taking a leisurely walk through the land. Be sure to watch our full walking tour of Avengers Campus for the atmosphere and tips for your next visit!
