Recently, I tried another one of the food options inside the Parkside Market at the west end of Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort. I had already sampled GG’s Chicken Shop on a previous trip, so this time I wanted to give Seoul Sister a go.
Both quick serve locations are located inside Parkside Market, with the Sip & Sonder coffee shop located outside and the Vista Point cocktail bar upstairs.
Seoul Sister has a limited menu of Korean-inspired bowls. Start by choosing your base of either steamed rice, Japchae (glass) noodles, or salad. Then add your protein of Beef & Egg [$19.00], Beef [$18.00], Chicken [$18.00], Pork Belly [$19.00], or Tofu [$17.00]. The toppings are slightly different depending on the protein you choose.
In addition to the bowls, there are also Dumplings [$8.00] and a grab & go Korean Chicken Salad [$16.00].
I decided on the fried dumplings which are stuffed with beef and vegetables, and served with a dipping sauce. While I’m used to pork or chicken dumplings, these beef dumplings were delicious. They were warm, crispy, and flavorful. I would definitely get them again.
I also had the Chicken Bowl, which was topped with garlic chicken, carrots, broccoli, green onions, furikake, and sweet soy sauce. While not on the menu, there was a little bit of spring mix thrown in there as well. This dish for me was uneven. The chicken was tasty and the dish was generally filling. The downsides were related to temperature. First, the broccoli appeared to have been pre-cooked (not a surprise), but then chilled and reheated. However, my broccoli was still cold inside. Second was the sweet soy sauce, which was served cold. I assume that is so that it could serve as a salad dressing as well, but it didn’t work pouring it over my warm bowl.
I might get this dish again, but at an $18 price tag, I was hoping for a bit more. If I did, I might skip the cold sauce and substitute standard room temperature soy sauce, which was also available.
As I discovered last visit, seating near the two quick serve restaurants is limited. I confirmed this time around that you’re also able to take your pager upstairs and enjoy your meal there, so that’s what I did. The tables near the window were a bit breezy, so I chose to sit a bit further back. There was still plenty of fresh air and a very nice view.
Keep in mind that GG’s Chicken Shop and Seoul Sister share cash registers, so you could definitely go crazy mixing and matching the two menus. Dumplings and Elote….I think so!
Have you tried any of the options at Parkside Market and do you have any favorites? Honestly, I’m just happy to see more quick serve locations opening in Downtown Disney and can’t wait for the updated Earl of Sandwich to open next door to the Parkside Market.
