Disneyland is officially opening the timeline gates at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and it’s a BIG one!
Beginning April 29th, the land will no longer be locked into a single era of Star Wars storytelling. Instead, Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park will expand to include characters and themes from across multiple generations of the saga, bringing the original trilogy into Black Spire Outpost alongside the sequel era and beyond.
This update introduces the Galactic Civil War and the New Republic era to the land, meaning you can encounter heroes and villains from the original trilogy in a place that was once firmly set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.
Classic Characters Arrive in Black Spire Outpost
Starting April 29th, Darth Vader will begin appearing in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park, accompanied by Imperial Stormtroopers. (With Vader’s arrival, Kylo Ren will no longer roam the land and will instead move to the Disney Visa character experience in Tomorrowland.)

Luke Skywalker (originally introduced to the land during Disneyland’s 2025 Season of the Force) will wander Black Spire Outpost in search of Force knowledge and lost lightsaber lore.
Leia Organa will reunite with Luke and Chewbacca near the Millennium Falcon, while Han Solo will be seen roaming near the Falcon and Oga’s Cantina.
Characters from later eras will still remain part of the experience. Rey will continue appearing in the Resistance camp area. Ahsoka Tano, The Mandalorian, and Grogu will roam near the marketplace, blending multiple Star Wars timelines into one shared space.

New Background Music Feat. John Williams’ Iconic Score
Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will also debut a brand new background music loop for Galaxy’s Edge built from John Williams’ original Star Wars scores. You’ll soon hear familiar themes at different points throughout the land, including “Main Title” and “Force Theme” at the entrances, and selections like “Han Solo and the Princess” “The Desert and the Robot Auction”, and “The Emperor” woven throughout Black Spire Outpost.

Shop Updates
As part of the timeline expansion, First Order Cargo will become Black Spire Surplus, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will rotate new artifacts for sale, and Droid Depot will operate under an earlier generation of the Mubo family.

What Is Not Changing
Disneyland confirmed there are no story changes planned for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance as part of this update. The timeline expansion also applies only to Disneyland Park. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World remains unchanged.
Disney also noted that guests may begin seeing some of these enhancements appear over the next couple of months ahead of the official April 29 debut.
For longtime fans, this is a huge deal in how Galaxy’s Edge tells its story, turning the land into a living crossroads of Star Wars history rather than a single moment frozen in time.

Me? I’ve been wishing and hoping for a John Williams-fueled background music loop and the ability to see beloved original trilogy characters since they initially announced the lands for both coasts. I couldn’t be more excited for these additions and changes. I only hope Walt Disney World follows suit. Help us Josh D’Amaro, you’re our only hope.
How do you feel about these updates? Would you like to see the original trilogy expansion happen at Walt Disney World, too?
