Located in the shadow of Disney California Adventure, Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn is a little piece of history. Opened in the mid-1960s as the Inn of Tomorrow, Stovall’s still sports a space-age touch in the lobby and a relaxing topiary garden out back. We’ve been checking out many of the Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels the last few months and I’m glad I finally made my way to this classic location.
The Disneyland Resort is surrounded by locally owned and chain non-Disney eateries, lodging and more, so sometimes there are some great options (and values) to be had just outside of the gates. When it comes to hotels, Disney has partnered with nearly 60 area hotels, including FIVE Best Westerns, that can be included with your tickets as part of a Disneyland Resort Good Neighbor Hotel Vacation Package.
Stovall’s Inn boasts 290 rooms in two multi-story wings and features a variety of rooms, including 2 Double Beds, 2 Queen Beds, or 1 King Bed.
My room included two comfortable beds, a desk space, a dresser, a television, and an armoire, along with a sitting area near the window.
While the layout was similar to the sister-property Best Western Plus Pavilions that we visited last trip, this room seems a bit larger. What IS the same is the design of the bathroom space, with the air conditioner placed in that area. You’ll also find a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker.
The tub and toilet, as usual, are in a separate room and feature the same squeeze bottles of product as the Pavilions.
For guests who want to spend some hotel time outside the parks, the large pool area and topiary garden shouldn’t be missed. The pool deck features two pools and two hot tubs, plus plenty of shaded seating.
Near the pool, you’ll also find the hotel’s gym facilities.
Unlike the nearby Pavilions, Stovall’s Inn hosts a hot breakfast onsite. The selection changes daily, but look for two types of scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, and potatoes.
You’ll also find pastries, cereals, fruit, and a yogurt bar. Drinks include coffee, milk, juices, and more.
Breakfast seating is clean and plentiful, with tables both inside and out.
In the lobby, you’ll find a small shop filled with souvenirs, snacks, and drinks. The area features a kiosk that you use to scan and pay for your purchases.
The walk to the Downtown Disney District entrance takes about 15 minutes, and from there, it’s just a few minutes to the theme parks. Coming back at the end of the evening, you can even cut through the Grand Californian Hotel to make the walk a bit shorter (and shadier).
Stovall’s has plenty of gated parking available, however, the hotel charges $20 per day. If you plan on visiting the parks on checkout day, you can leave your car until 3:00pm.
If you are a fan of Disneyland Resort history or just need a comfortable place to lay your head on your next Disney vacation, be sure to check out Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn.
