Disneyland Park is my happy place. It’s the home park that I grew up enjoying and home to all of my cherished childhood memories. It’s the park where my children were first introduced to the lifestyle I love and where we have celebrated many memorable family occasions along the way. As you can imagine, coming at my Disney fandom from that background, I was keenly on the edge of my seat during D23 for news about the upcoming Disneyland 70th Anniversary celebration that we expect to see in 2025. Unfortunately, Disney didn’t use this mega-event as an opportunity to release some of the details that we are yet to hear about the celebration, leaving Disney nerds like myself hanging. While news of brand new attractions, lands, entertainment, and movies have kept me busy for a few days, I keep coming back to my longing for more info on this magical anniversary event.
Disneyland first opened its gates on July 17th, 1955, and by July 2025, guests will be honoring the incredible achievement of 70 years of providing families with magical moments and giving back to the community. The question of how exactly Disney plans to handle the celebration is where it lies. So far, other than news of the Walt Disney animatronic that will grace the park with its presence next year, we don’t know much. No doubt there will be special merchandise, a delightful menu, and many other celebratory aspects, but the theme and timing are the number of questions most fans seem to have.
Judging by the banner shown at the D23 event, Disney might be departing from the usual regal colors and sparkles. The small preview that we have shows bright colors, with vibrant yellow, pink, and purple dominating the scene. Could this be an indication that Disney will be relying on a fun and energetic color scheme rather than the more formal approach of years gone by? The royal/navy blue with silver and platinum accents has been overdone in recent years with both the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary and Disney100 celebrations. While I will always be a little afraid that we could end up with a Magic Kingdom cupcake castle situation, I’m excited to think that the next anniversary for Disneyland might be a little less formal.
What are some things you hope for during Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary event? Obviously, I will be adding the inevitable new Minnie Mouse Ear Headband to my collection regardless of what it looks like, but I haven’t thought too much past that at what we will be looking forward to. Let us know your ideas!
