Walt Disney World and Disneyland are two of the most magical (and happiest) places on Earth, especially during the holidays. The parks revamp everything in sight to celebrate the holidays beginning in November. From wreaths and garlands to ride overlays, Magic Kingdom and more are completely transformed into a holiday wonderland for guests to enjoy. Even Disney Springs and the resorts get a festive update for the season! The Disney parks are some of the best places to celebrate the holidays, but unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to travel to the East or West Coast to do so. That’s why I’m going to tell you how you can have a Disney holiday right at home!
Watch Holiday Movies
Disney+ offers a seemingly unlimited amount of movies to watch, including a wide variety of holiday-themed movies. Home Alone, I’ll Be Home For Christmas, and A Christmas Carol are included some of the must-watch classics. The Nightmare Before Christmas is debated to be a Halloween or Christmas movie, but whatever your stance on the matter is, it’s available to stream with Disney+. Mickey Mouse even stars in some short films, including Mickey’s Christmas Carol and Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas. Some original movies such as Beauty and the Beast, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Lego Star Wars have holiday specials as well.
Bake Disney Goodies
One of the best parts of attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are the treats. Luckily, if you have the right ingredients, you can bake your own Mickey-shaped desserts right at home! There are plenty of Disney-inspired cookbooks out there, like the Disney A Merry Christmas Cookbook. If you prefer to find recipes online, the Disney parks have published some of their official recipes, such as this Spaceship Earth cookie recipe. Fans have even re-created the recipes of iconic Disney dishes, like the Plant-Based Cookie Fries (You can watch our own Craig Williams try the original recipe from Beaches & Cream Soda Shop here).
Don’t have a sweet tooth? Don’t worry! There are plenty of Disney recipes online that are perfect for your savory meal as well. Disney has cookbooks that aren’t themed to a specific holiday, and there’s sure to be a feast in there fit for the whole family. There are also recipes online for iconic Disney meals, like Walt’s Chili, a heart-warming option for that special night.
Order Disney Holiday Merch
ShopDisney.com is a great alternative to buying official Disney holiday merchandise in the parks. You can order Disney holiday-themed clothing, home decor, and so much more. shopDisney is also the perfect place to find gifts for your friends and family! They have a wide variety of gift options – toys for your kids, sneakers or watches for your husband, or mugs and purses for your wife. There’s literally so much to choose from, and you will spend hours searching through all of the options to find the perfect gift.
Watch Disney Vlogs
As someone who lives in Georgia and only visits Disney once every year or two, I spend a lot of my free time watching annual passholders who vlog their way through the parks. Living vicariously through someone is one of the best ways to overcome FOMO (fear of missing out). Luckily, plenty of Orlando locals share their Disney holiday experience online. Turn on your Christmas lights and grab some eggnog, and it will feel like you’re right there next to them while watching A Very Merry Christmas Party vlog.
