You know what they say about opinions; everyone’s got one, and sometimes, I like to flip things around and get some of the darker thoughts we carry with us during our journey of Disney fandom. It’s not all blue skies and sunshine, and for all of us, there are niggling things that Disney does or offers that just don’t fit in well with our personalities. Let me go back a step. This thought process began at the end of this week when I read the comments about the latest Disney popcorn bucket. Not only did that kickstart our debate topic for this week, but it also left me thinking, overthinking, if you will, about one of the comments left on the announcement post from Disney Parks. In summary, there was an element of frustration shared for the amount of Stitch-themed merch coming out, and it got me thinking about how we all feel so differently about our Disney characters and movies.
Mickey Mouse seems to be a staple in many people’s most-loved Disneyverse, but it always surprises me which characters seem to get on people’s nerves. I’ll never forget one time a commenter on the DIS listed in several paragraphs of her distaste for my girl, Minnie, and I was shocked. Usually, we tackle these hard-hitting topics in the Disney Confessional: A Series of Unpopular Opinions articles, but today, I have a one-off question that I want your thoughts on. Full disclosure: I hope you won’t hate me for my answer.
The question is, what is your least favorite Disney Movie? Open to all Disney, Pixar, Marvel & Star Wars answers.
In previous years, I’ve expressed some negative opinions for some things Disney, though admittedly, they are few and far between. That’s why I am hoping those of you with a soft spot for my answer to this question will forgive me. Here goes nothing… Hercules. The character, the 1997 movie, and everything about it just annoys me for some reason. It’s truly one of the great mysteries to me why some people cheer when this, preferably unacknowledged, film gets some recognition. Other than a few snappy one-liners, what is there to like there? Maybe someone can give me some insight on that one that will change my mind. In the meantime, I’d like to know your answer. And believe me, we all have one, so don’t be shy. Which Disney movie or character could you do without?
