Behind the Scenes Look at How the Iconic Disney Name Tags Are Made WDW Engraving Dept

We’ve all seen the official Disney name tags that display the Cast Member’s first name along with their home state or country. Receiving this piece of their uniform is said to be a rite of passage for any new Disney Cast Member.

Did you know that using the “first name” name tags is a tradition that was inspired by Walt Disney? His feeling was that calling Cast Members by their first names was crucial in order to create a family-friendly environment.

The Engraving Shop at the Walt Disney World Resort produces at least 100,000 name tags for new Cast Members at theme parks, Disney Springs, Disney Cruise Line, and more.

Take a look at the video below to see inside The Engraving Shop and to learn more about the process!
