Blackfish Hasn’t Hurt Stock Prices According to SeaWorld Attorneys

SeaWorld attorneys have denied in court that the 2013 documentary Blackfish has greatly affected stock prices. A 2014 lawsuit filed by a group of SeaWorld shareholders claimed that the company misled them, saying the documentary had no impact financially on the company. SeaWorld investors have pointed out six occasions between 2013 and 2014 in which company officials denied to the media that the documentary had any financial effect on the company.

In a partially redacted document filed in a federal court in California on Thursday, SeaWorld said, “There is simply no reason to proffer that a handful of opinions regarding Blackfish and multi-factor discussions of why attendance was impacted for certain quarters would inflate SeaWorld’s stock.”
