UPDATE: Pixar has removed the 2029 premiere date from their initial announcement.
During Disney’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders today, CEO Bob Iger announced a sequel to Pixar’s beloved story of Coco: Coco 2.
“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure, and we can’t wait to share more soon.” – Bob Iger
Coco 2 reunites the team behind the original film, including director Lee Unkrich (who’s returning to Pixar after his 2019 departure), and co-director Adrian Molina (Coco); Oscar-winning producer Mark Nielsen (of Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2) will produce.
Hey theme park fans… who knows what sort of Coco offerings we’ll have at the Disney parks by the time this sequel premieres?
