Chinese government releases etiquette guide in an effort to keep Shanghai Disneyland clean

After the mess tourists have made of the yet-unopened Shanghai Disneyland, the Chinese government has stepped in with an etiquette guide for the park’s visitors. The park officially opens later this month and over a million visitors have already stopped by to see the park entrance, leaving behind graffiti, trash, ruined flower gardens, and even human waste.

The etiquette guide was created by the city’s civilization office and tourism bureau. The guide lays out six rules to keep the issue from resurfacing, and to keep a “good international image” for the country.

The rules are:

  • Throw garbage into trash cans
  • Protect public property
  • Don’t damage flowers or gardens
  • Don’t lay down on the grass
  • Don’t jump queues
  • Maintain overall decorum

According to Orlando Weekly, “there has been some talk in Shanghai of keeping records of violators and public shaming.”

Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
