Disney has announced that both Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will transition from a virtual queue to standby access beginning February 25th.

This change means guests wanting to ride either attraction will no longer need to join a virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app.

A virtual queue typically offers guests two chances to reserve a spot in line for newer attractions at Walt Disney World, with daily opportunities to join the queue via the My Disney Experience app at 7AM and 1PM. While guests do not have to be on WDW property for the early morning release, they do need to be in the park of their desired virtual queue to join the second drop. These changes to standby queues will ease anyone’s vacation plans — no more early alarms! No more missing the virtual queue drop! Overall, this transition offers more flexibility in anyone’s park plans. (Hello spontaneous EPCOT/Magic Kingdom park-hopping plans!)

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Beginning February 25th, Magic Kingdom’s latest attraction will be accessible via standby queue, while Lightning Lane access will continue for guests who purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has operated Virtual Queue for more than 240 days since its June 2024 opening. Since TRON Lightcycle / Run dropped its virtual queue back in September, Magic Kingdom will soon be free of Virtual Queues!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

The popular intergalactic EPCOT coaster will [FINALLY] open its standby queue on February 25th, while guests can still pay for skip-the-line access with Individual Lightning Lane.

Cosmic Rewind opened back in May 2022, and holds the record for being Walt Disney World’s attraction with the longest running virtual queue — we’re currently at 998 days and counting.

Disney will continue to utilize virtual queues in the future, as they shared: “virtual queues continue to be helpful with the launch of popular attractions and the debut of new experiences and offerings, so we may use them again from time to time for select experiences in the future.
