Hong Kong Disneyland is working on a massive expansion that will add two new lands to the park from 2018 to 2023. The two new lands would be a Frozen land and new Marvel land!
According to the Disney Parks Blog, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek said, “This proposed expansion brings the best of The Walt Disney Company to this wonderful tourist destination, giving guests an experience only Disney can deliver and infusing some of Disney’s most beloved characters and stories into this unique destination.”
Disney wants to expand further on the Marvel universe within the park. Hong King Disneyland will already be opening the Iron Man Experience on January 11th, but they want to add even more Marvel into the park. There weren't a lot of details on what exactly would be added to this land, but it was mentioned that there would be an attraction dedicated to one of the "most popular Marvel franchises."
The other land, which will be themed around Frozen’s kingdom of Arendelle (top image) will add “themed dining, shopping, and entertainment,” so guests can be immersed into the land of Anna, Elsa, and Olaf! There was no note of a Frozen-themed attraction from chairman Bob Chapek, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if there was also a Frozen Ever After attraction modeled after the ride in Epcot.
Disney has high hopes for their newest film, Moana. Although the movie is just hitting theaters, Disney is already planning on giving her a themed stage show in Adventureland at Hong Kong Disneyland. Guests will also be able to meet Moana at the park.
Sleeping Beauty Castle will also be revamped to be much larger in order to have better “daytime and nighttime spectaculars and entertainment experiences.” The refurbishment wil include a a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Currently, the Walt Disney Company is working with the Hong Kong Government to try and finalize this proposal.
