Disney’s Hollywood Studios to be renamed

logo_holly (1) During a shareholders meeting Thursday, March 12, Bob Iger let slip that Disney’s Hollywood Studios would soon be getting a new name. The Walt Disney Co. chairman and CEO was taking questions from the audience and was asked by a young member of the audience if the park would be renamed. Iger confirmed this, but then backtracked after realizing that this was not yet public knowledge. He followed up by saying that the park will see a significant overhaul, which will result in a rebranding when everything is completed. Fans have already seen many changes at Hollywood Studios, including removal of the sorcerer’s hat icon, the closing of the Studio Backlot Tour, the American Idol Experience and the Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow. An additional track is being constructed for Toy Story Mania and The Great Movie Ride has partnered with Turner Classic Movies for an update to the movies shown in the queue and the attraction’s finale. This would be the third name for the park, which opened in 1989. Originally called Disney-MGM Studios, the park became Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008. News source: Variety
