EPCOT Introduces New Parking Lot Theme & Sections at Disney World This Week!

The Walt Disney Imagineering posted on Instagram sharing what new things will be coming to the EPCOT parking lot. According to the post, guests visiting EPCOT will be welcomed in a new way starting this week.

This change is all part of the park’s transformation and honoring the new area guests will find after they enter. The first part of this update is that they are changing the lot names. No more Create, Amaze, Discover, Journey, Wonder, and Imagine. The parking lot will now be separated by “Space” and “Earth.”

The Earth section

  • Moana
  • Hei Hei
  • Crush
  • Dory

These names pay tribute to the Moana-inspired attraction coming to the park later this year and The Seas with Nemo & Freinds.

The Space Section

  • Wall-e
  • Eve
  • Rocket
  • Gamora

Wall-e and Eve don’t make appearances throughout EPCOT, so I am confused as to why they chose those characters. Rocket and Gamora make a lot of sense because Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the newest attraction at the park.

They will also be reimagining the auto plaza marquee, which will be installed in the coming weeks. It will be weird to see that change happen because I am so used to the current design, but it will be nice to see it updated.

I know many fans will probably hate this because we have a hard time with change, but this was inevitable. The parking lot names we know and love no longer fit EPCOT. I remember being upset when they did this at Hollywood Studios, but now I love the new parking lot names and the logos that belong to each area. It will take some getting used to, but I’m sure I’ll begin to like it soon enough.

All I know is that I hope to get parked in the Moana section every time I visit. Let’s be honest; that will probably be the preferred parking lot. I wish they would’ve made one of these a Figment lot since he is the face of the park, but it’s okay; at least he is still honored throughout the park. How do you feel about this change? Do you hate it? Do you love it? Let us know.
